What are UTM parameters?▼
UTM (Urchin Tracking Module) are parameters added to URLs to track traffic sources in Google Analytics. The main ones are: utm_source (source), utm_medium (medium), utm_campaign (campaign), utm_term (search term) and utm_content (content).
Which UTM parameters are required?▼
The minimum recommended is utm_source, utm_medium and utm_campaign. utm_term and utm_content are optional but useful for paid search campaigns and to differentiate ads of the same type.
How to use UTM links in Google Analytics?▼
After generating the link with UTM parameters, use it in your campaigns (email, social media, ads). Google Analytics will automatically categorize traffic in Acquisition > Campaigns.
